The Position |The City of Alexandria is seeking applications for the position of Finance Clerk.  This position assists the Finance Department in maintaining the financial accounting system and supporting systems (accounts payable, accounts receivable) and assists in the daily, interim and year-end financial and budgetary functions, including payroll duties and benefit administration activities.

Experience and Education| This position requires a Two (2) year degree in accounting or five (5) years of responsible accounting experience.  Preference given to candidates with government accounting experience and additional training in governmental/fund accounting.

The Selection Procedure| Applicants must submit an official City of Alexandria application. Résumés may be included, but will not be accepted in lieu of a completed application.  Those applicants not meeting the minimum requirements will not be considered. The first review of applications will take place the week of November 22nd. The information provided on the application will be evaluated through a T&E scoring process.  Based on the T&E screening, those candidates with the most relevant qualifications, training & experience will be invited for an interview.
