City Assessor named to Minnesota State Board of Assessors

Reed Heidelberger to represent Alexandria at state level

Alexandria, MN, July 29, 2016– At the July 26th meeting of the Minnesota State Board of Assessors in St. Michael, Reed Heidelberger, City of Alexandria Assessor, was named to hold a seat on that prestigious board

Having our city voice heard at the state level is imperative to assuring our residents that Greater Minnesota is participating at all levels of decision making and state-wide conversations.” Marty Schultz, City of Alexandria Administrator.

The creation of this board is to review, supervise, coordinate, and approve courses in assessment practices, and establish criteria for determining assessor’s qualifications. The board shall also consider other matters relating to assessment administration brought before it by the commissioner of revenue. The board may grant, renew, suspend, or revoke an assessor’s license.

According to the Minnesota State Revenue website, “The board is composed of nine members appointed by the Commissioner of Revenue. The purpose of the board is to educate, license, and regulate the professional conduct of assessors in order to provide the taxpayers of Minnesota with a fair and equitable valuation of their property. The board publishes rules that govern the licensing requirements for assessors.”
